References and stuff[edit source]

I appreciate your interest with the "Characteristics" sections, but please: Elvish names are not commonly written in cursive, there is no need to include links to other articles when they have been already given, always include references to support everything you are saying, respect the article structure, palantíri are not an equipment. Just take these things into account when editing and you'll be welcome here, otherwise you'll be blocked again. Thanks. --LorenzoCB 13:36, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I reverted or deleted the edits that you made that had not already been reverted by LorenzoCB. There is no need to create additional sections in articles, such as Character or Weapons and Equipment and there is no need to repeat information that is already contained in other places on a page. The Tolkien Manual of Style TG:MOS and Help:References require that information in edits is supported by references. You are creating work for other users to check and revert your edits or to add references if you make edits without including references that support the information in those edits. --Akhorahil 14:01, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think that the "Characteristics" sections are not problem even in such known and detailed characters, as it is always useful having a proper description of them beyond the bare info given in the infobox. The info you removed had the problems mentioned, so it is fine. --LorenzoCB 14:15, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Unfortunately, the information about the appearance and character of a person was after the History section in one case. In my opinion information about the appearance and character of a person should be at the beginning of a page, because the info box with some of that information is also at the beginning of a page and should not duplicate any information that is included in the History section. What a person does during his life may reflect his or her character, so there is always a risk of merely duplicating information. --Akhorahil 16:31, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Disagree, "Characteristics" should be after the "History" section imo, precisely because having the infobox sidewides would feel redundant. Also, some of the character's characteristics cannot be undestood without the character evolution described in the "History" section. Maybe the Valar could be an exception, but even so. The "History" sections should not include a description of the character unless pertinent to the narrative or because having a "Characteristic" section is not worthy. If the info is repeated, there is no problem, as each section fulfills its purpose. --LorenzoCB 16:47, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
