The Road to Isengard is the third scene of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (extended edition). It was extended in the latter edition.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Théoden, and Éomer ride through Fangorn Forest, approaching Isengard.

Merry and Pippin sit atop a wall, laughing and smoking the Longbottom Leaf that they found in Saruman's storeroom. As they see Gandalf and the others ride out of the forest, Merry stands and greets them, much to the delight of Aragorn.

You young rascals! A merry hunt you've led us on, and now we find you, feasting and smoking!
Gimli to Merry and Pippin

Merry tells them that Treebeard has taken over Isengard.
