Tethil

From Tolkien Gateway

Tethil was the name of a poppy-inhabiting flower fay, according to the early version of the legendarium associated with The Book of Lost Tales.[1] Nothing else is known about her, and she doesn't appear in any of the narratives.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

The name Tethil is in Gnomish, and it includes the element teth ("a bud").[1] Its Qenya cognate is Tetillë, an elaboration on tetl ("small flower"), which is itself derived from the root TETE ("bud, blossom").[2]
