Template talk:Elves
I'm a little unsure about this template. There are basically two ways of displaying the totality of the elvish groups/clans:
- A listing of all (major) names for the Elves, and give some indication on how they can be grouped (which seems to be the current usage of the template).
- A table showing how they relate to each other (something along the line of the table in The Silmarillion, "Quendi: The Elves").
A problem(?) right now is that we redirect many names to other names (like Vinyar->Vanyar, High Elves->Calaquendi). If we instead used a table (a bit like the "Template:Familytree"), a reader would better see how these names relate to each other. Would an imagemap be a good option?
I'm also thinking that if we simplify this template, or change it to a table/image, and then use it on all pages to which it links, we could always in addition have a more complex template/table on our article on Elves, showing the richness of the many names and clans (such names which perhaps would be superfluous on the current template, like variant names for the Eldar, etc.).
