Talk:Three Rings

Sauron did not assist to their making nor ever did he touch them and his taint was not direct on them.[3]

It says this is in Letter 131, but the only thing I see concerning this is: 'The Elves of Eregion made Three supremely beautiful and powerful rings, almost solely of their own imagination, and directed to the preservation of beauty: they did not confer invisibility.' It does state they were unsullied, and the Sil states he never touched them, but where is it said that he didn't assist with their making? Thanks. --Shimel 03:05, 4 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

In The Silmarillion, "Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age" (p. 299) - "Therefore the Three remained unsullied, for they were forged by Celebrimbor alone, and the hand of Sauron had never touched them; yet they also were subject to the One." Protospace 22:28, 4 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Appearances[edit source]

I think in the second Hobbit movie, where Galadriel finds Gandalf in Dol Guldur, she makes use of Nenya, to destroy one Orc, and then perhaps exorcise Sauron to Mordor, as in both times she raises her hand and there is a glow from it. However I can't decide if this power is supposed to be Nenya. If it is so, it should be added in the appearances section. Sage (talk) 14:32, 6 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hm, I think that scene is from The Battle of the Five Armies and is mentioned in the article already, right? I agree with you that the implication is she is using Nenya against Sauron, but I think the reason the article doesn't go into too much detail, is this particular article is about the "Three Rings", so it's only the fact that all three rings appeared in these scenes that is of importance. We may want to consider adding a "Portrayal in adaptations" section to Nenya to detail specifics surrounding this ring. Hyarion (talk) 04:46, 7 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
