Servants and helpers?

As the sprites and fays are not mentioned in later versions of the legendarium, it might be that Tolkien envisioned these creatures as the "servants and helpers" of the Maiar (mentioned in later versions of Elven chronicles). – As my mother tongue is not English, I'm not quite sure about the meaning of the sentence on which this notion is based, namely Valaquenta These are the Maiar, the people of the Valar, and their servants and helpers. Does Tolkien really (and unequivocally) want to say that there were servants and helpers of the Maiar? Or could this be understood that the Maiar were servants and helpers of the Valar? --Tik 10:22, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

So, should the section "The later legendarium" be removed or at least thoroughly rewritten? Reference to the Valaquenta would be quite erroneous if I'm not totally mistaken. --Tik 18:47, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Sacha and Tethil

A few months ago, I made articles about the individual sprites - Sacha, and Tethil - that were deleted because they are only mentioned in a list of names in Parma Eldalamberon, without any other information about them. However, it is my opinion that any individual character in the legendarium, no matter how little information there is about them, deserve their own articles.

Also, these two are the only named sprites/fays mentioned by name: therefore, I propose that these articles should be reinstated. --IvarTheBoneless

I just looked into this and it was User:Morgan who made the decision, but I agree with him (as always!) I don't think these articles should be recreated, although I would have them as redirects to here. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 10:53, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

Fays?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the term fay used more broadly than the term sprite and as such is not synonymous with it? For example, the article claims that sprites were spirits of the earth, but the term fay is applied by Tolkien to beings that I would hardly call spirits of the earth (such as Sacha the fire-fay).
