I'm a bit confused about why changing all the Avarin "word articles" to "tribe articles". Is there any hint in the source text which suggests that these six forms were names of Elven tribes? --Morgan 21:51, 20 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

"but wherever the descendants of *kwendi were found, they meant not 'Elves in general', but were the names that the Avari gave to themselves. They had evidently continued to call themselves *kwendi, the People". I tend to interpret it that way. Sage 23:15, 20 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
On the other hand, one can also interpret it as that all penni, kinn-lai, cuind etc, meant 'Avari' in each language, not names of particular tribes. Sage 11:45, 21 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
"...the names that the Avari gave to themselves", that's the interesting part, I see! And since penni, cuind, etc were all derivatives/variations of *kwendi, then these Avarin names could be interpreted as a kind of "tribe" names. But perhaps there is a way to clarify the ambiguity of the text? --Morgan 22:29, 21 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
