I removed the internal link to [[Orocarni|mountains of the East]]. From what I can see, this would be too much of interpretation - Tolkien only says that "[t]he other two [awakening] places were eastward, at distances as great or greater than that between the Blue Mountains and Gundabad". --Morgan 21:19, 19 March 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Location of awakening place[edit source]

Has anyone worked out the longitude (if that is the correct term for a flat world like Middle-Earth before the Fall of Numenor) of a place which was the same distance east of Mount Gundabad as the Blue Mountains (and specifically the locations of Nogrod and Belegost on the north-western slopes thereof) were west of it? A very rough estimate would put such a line of longitude running from the eastern edge of the Iron Hills, south to the western shore of the Sea of Rhun, and then south to the eastern shore of the Sea of Nurnen. I suggest that, based on the maps, it should be possible to work out the minimum longitude east of Mount Gundabad for the awakening places of the four dwarf-fathers other than those who awoke at Mount Gundabad and in the Blue Mountains. I propose that this article (and perhaps also the articles for the other three Houses in question) should be modified to state that the awakening places of the fathers in question were/must have been on or east of those lines of longitude.
