Should we merge this with Olwë? --IvarTheBoneless 12:39, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm not sure, because of the slight snag that the name also applied to an earlier version of Thingol (Book of Lost Tales II, The Tale of Tinúviel, Notes and commentary, p. 50). The name Ellu is later used for the earlier version of Olwë. However, Christopher Tolkien notes in the commentary here, "Many years later Ellu again became Thingol's name (Sindarin Elu Thingol, Quenya Elwë Singollo, in The Silmarillion)." I wonder if it might be better to include a bit of the information in both the Thingol and Olwë articles, and then use this one to focus on what the name was used for at different stages rather than an early character. --Grace18 17:36, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree with Grace, but I would leave this article mainly for the BoLT character and explain the use of Elu in OVOTL. --LorenzoCB 18:38, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree with LorenzoCB. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 13:05, 26 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
