After having read The Rivers and Beacon-hills of Gondor (VT 42, p. 14 - same text slightly reduced in UT Index s.v. Morthond) I suppose Mornan is not = Blackroot Vale, but an upper valley high in the mountains where the river had its sources near the Gate of the Dead Men. Mornan is "a dark valley in the mountains" and not the large, widely populated valley that is called Blackroot Vale. --Tik 10:27, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
