Talk:Ancalimë

From Tolkien Gateway

While I tend to be fairly supportive of many merge efforts, I tend to think this page should remain, because Ancalimë as such was a character in the story Aldarion and Erendis. As young Ancalimë, she is actually developed as a living person, as opposed to remaining chiefly a statistic, like most of the other Númenórean rulers did. —Tar-Telperien 05:57, 18 November 2007 (EST)

I'm afraid on this count i really do strongly disagree. I beleive an article is big enough both to cover the character as a person and as a 'statistic'. Take the article of Aragorn II: The article manages to display both his personal life including his youth and also deal with his role and details of his reign as king. By combining the articles of Ancalime and her later role as queen it would actually give vastly more detail and punch, showing that there are characters in these lineages who are not simply statistics but who had personalities and opinions rather than just acheivements. To be honest just ruminating on the possibilities gives me a niggling desire to reread the story of Aldarion and Erendis which frankly is something i never thought i'd say. That's true. This can be merged; I wouldn't really mind. I was merely supplying a thought to Tik's question here. The two articles do not greatly need to be kept apart, and maybe could benefit from being merged. While I was adding infoboxes to each of the Númenóreans, I saw several articles that ought to be merged. The problem is that there is a bit of an ambiguity as far as the rulers are concerned, especially if their given names are different from their ruling names, as Aldarion's was, or if they had multiple ruling names, like Ar-Belzagar. Many of these articles need to be sorted out, rewritten, and expanded, or merged if necessary. —Tar-Telperien 19:11, 24 November 2007 (EST)
