Other versions of the legendarium[edit | edit source]

The name Saelon is an emendation from an earlier name Sael..th (which wasn't completely legible).[2] Christopher Tolkien speculates that in this characters are seen the roots of a story which would eventually become Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth - especially since Saelon was an earlier name of Andreth in the drafts of that story.[2]
