Galweg was a Gnome, one of the Rodothlim, according to the early version of the legendarium in The Book of Lost Tales.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
Galweg was the father of Failivrin, who fell in love with Túrin when he and his friend Flinding lived in the caverns of the Rodothlim,[note 1][2] ruled by Orodreth. He was fond of Túrin, and they often aided one another.[1]
Galweg was killed during Melko's attack on the Rodothlim,[3] and his dwelling was later occupied by Mîm the Dwarf, before he himself was killed by Úrin, Túrin's father.[4]
Other versions of the legendarium[edit | edit source]
In The Lay of the Children of Húrin, written not long after The Book of Lost Tales, Failivrin's father became Orodreth, and the character of Galweg had disappeared entirely.[5]
