Is "MERP:" actually in the title of any of these books, because my research indicates not..? --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 16:47, 24 October 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Properly speaking not (although in one sense you could say it's part of the title, since they all have Middle-earth Role Playing at the very top of all title pages). I started creating these pages a long time ago (just after having become a member of TG), so I wasn't sure about how to name the articles back then. Since many of the titles conflict with other articles (Gorgoroth, Mirkwood, Lake-town, etc.), I thought it would be fitting to name them MERP: X, to make them all stand out. Recently it seems like we have adopted the style "X (Y)" for articles needing disambiguation - perhaps it would be appropriate to do this for the MERP supplements to? If that is the best option, I would take the responsibility of moving all the MERP articles and sort out the links (better do it now than later!). --Morgan 17:16, 24 October 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, having done a quick ISBN-check it seems to be that each book is simply, e.g. Lake-town, which is in the Middle-earth Role Playing series (as The Treason of Isengard is in The History of Middle-earth series).
The "X (Y)" style is really the proper way of disambiguating (because it's easy to remove the disambiguation with a piped link); unfortunately, we didn't really have defined standards in the past, but we do now, and I have slowly been weeding out the old disambiguation system (check User:Mithbot/Scripts to see some I've changed). If there aren't any other books, they only need be "Lake-town (book)", I think (if there are other books, then "Lake-town (MERP book)", or even "Lake-town (YEAR book)").
How many more books are there? --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 17:41, 24 October 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The books I've listed on the MERP-article are all that exist. So your suggestion is to change the name of the articles in the following way: 1) remove the "MERP: " 2) if there exists another article with similar title, add "(book)", and so on (year, etc, if there are multiple books)? --Morgan 19:25, 24 October 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Exactly! What do you think? --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 09:33, 25 October 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I honestly prefer 'MERP:' at the start - speaking mainly as a reader of these excellent articles. -- KingAragorn  talk  contribs  edits  email  10:33, 25 October 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
But it's not actually their names. They'll all still in the MERP category (so can easily be found there), as well as a list on the MERP article. The logic would mean The Treason of Isengard be moved to THOME:The Treason of Isengard, for instance. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 16:21, 25 October 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
