The Captain of Morgoth in the west during the Nirnaeth Arnoediad was the leader of a host of Orcs from Angband that assailed Fingon at Eithel Sirion.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
The Captain of Morgoth had been commanded to ensure that Fingon's force was brought into the battle as early as possible using whatever means necessary so that Fingon could not have the opportunity to outflank Morgoth's main army.
When his Orcs marched up to the Eithel Sirion within eyesight of Barad Eithel, the Captain of Morgoth sent riders with tokens of parley to the walls of the outworks. Once there, the heralds of the riders hewed off Gelmir's limbs and left him to die.
While the heralds and the riders were perished in the charge of Gwindor's company, it is unknown if the Captain of Morgoth was slain as well.[1]
