It's not his betrayal for which I deem him a villain (for I am not sure if many in his situation would not have at the very least been tempted by Morgoth's offer, as wicked and treacherous as he is) but Maeglin hating Tuor so much that he is capable of trying to kill Eärendil, only a child at that time.

"There are many powers in this world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. And against some I have not yet been tested."
― Gandalf to Frodo Baggins in The Fellowship of the Ring

About Me

I'm a great Tolkien fan. PJ's adaptations of the well-known The Lord of the Rings Trilogy sparked my interest for J.R.R. Tolkien's works themselves. I started with TLOTR and moved on to The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. Throughout the last 5 years I've read The Children of Húrin, The Fall of Gondolin and Beren and Lúthien (as well as a couple of volumes from The History of Middle-earth collection). I'm from Romania, so most of my early bibliography is in my native language.

From time to time I like to either help out on wikis or providing answers/debating on Quora.

My favourite characters by are the Enemy, Gandalf the Grey and Maeglin; the last of whom I identify with and feel pity for due to his unfortunate passion for another soul (in his case Idril).
