Adapter Terence Tiller briefly corresponded with Tolkien on what "accents" to use for the various characters in the second half of the programme. Tolkien asked him to avoid using "vulgar" English to represent Orcs, but said he could use intonation, articulation and tempo to make the Orcs sound nasty.[1]
