The Undertowers was a dwelling of Hobbits in the Westmarch during the Fourth Age. It was located near the White Towers.
It was at Undertowers that Sam's daughter Elanor Gardner settled with Fastred of Greenholm to found the Fairbairn Family, the hereditary Wardens of Westmarch.[1]
The Undertowers was one of the places of the Shire with the largest libraries and collections of historical documents, including preserving the Red Book of Westmarch, chronicling the War of the Ring and the Elder Days.[2]
