tinco is a noun meaning "metal" in Quenya.[1]

Tinco is also the name in Quenya of the first letter of the Tengwar alphabet.[1] It is the first letter of the first grade or Tyellë, which contains "voiceless stops" and it is the first letter in the dental or t-series of consonants, the Tincotéma. In all modes Tinco represents T.[2] The Westron name for this letter is .[3]

The word derives from the Primitive Quendian root TINKŌ.[4]
