Third Age 2589

Third Age 2589 (abbreviated to T.A. 2589) is the 2589th year of the Sun of the Third Age of Middle-earth. Third Age 2589 was also known as S.R. 989 in Shire-reckoning.
Notable events in this year include:
- War of the Dwarves and Dragons: Death of King Dáin I.[1] He and his second son, Frór, were slain by a great cold-drake at the doors of their halls in the Grey Mountains.[2]
- Thrór, son of Dáin I, becomes the King of Durin's Folk.[2]
