Third Age 1636

Third Age 1636 (abbreviated to T.A. 1636) is the 1636th year of the Sun of the Third Age of Middle-earth. Third Age 1636 was also known as S.R. 36 in Shire-reckoning.
Notable events in this year include:
- The Great Plague devastates Gondor, especially Osgiliath. Watch on Mordor ceases.[1][2]
- Death of King Telemnar and his children.[1]
- Tarondor, the nephew of Telemnar, becomes the twenty-seventh King of Gondor.[3]
- The White Tree dies in Minas Anor.[1]
- The plague spreads north and west, and many parts of Eriador become desolate.[1]
- Around the same time the Shadow in Greenwood grows deeper and evil things reappear.[2]
- Around the same time the Witch-king sent the Barrow-wights that haunted the hills,[4] preventing any resettlement
