Conflicting dates[edit source]

There are very conflicting dates on the internet about Dundas-Grant. The Wikipedia article and its primary source (Royal College of Surgeons of England) say he lived 1854 - 1944. Our article here on TG says 1896 - 1985, which is also reported on some other websites. The Royal College of Surgeons of England lists several accomplishments and even mention how he died, all of which contradict the dates here on TG. The From an "Outsider" article on TG says Dundas-Grant attended the funeral of CS Lewis, who died in 1963. If there is more than one person with the same name, its not known to the editors of Wikipedia because the Inklings are mentioned in the article. There are widespread mistakes about this man either on Wikipedia or TG, but it's not immediately clear what the truth is. --Oromë 15:12, 8 September 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Based on two sources I found, it appears that James Dundas-Grant the inkling is the son of Sir James Dundas-Grant the surgeon. Wikipedia is incorrectly conflating them as the same person. I'll add to the TG article to help clear up the confusion. --Oromë 20:53, 12 September 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
A relative of the family reached out to confirm your conclusion; the son is the Inkling, and the father is the Sir/surgeon. Great work! Hyarion (talk) 23:11, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
