Talk:Ents

Should we bring up the differences between Tolkien's story of the March of the Ents and Peter Jackson's adaptation (in which the Ents are so apathetic they actually vote to do nothing at the Entmoot)? I could rant at some length... --Ted C 10:38, 11 October 2006 (EDT)

Put the differences under "Adaptions". I'll go ahead and get it started. --Narfil Palùrfalas 11:03, 11 October 2006 (EDT)

Argh. I'm reminded of just how contrived the attack of the Ents on Isengard was in PJ's TTT. If he'd been portraying Merry and Pippin as the intelligent hobbits they were (despite their lack of experience), they wouldn't have seemed like such minor characters. Indeed, those two shined in The Two Towers, but PJ chose to focus his attention elsewhere (*cough* Arwen *cough*). --Ted C 13:47, 11 October 2006 (EDT)

Ted, I couldn't agree more. PJ of course put his own little moral beliefs in this and made the Ents act like a bunch of Liberals cowards, and I wanted to slap him when I saw what he did to the wisdom of the Ents. AARGH! --Dwarf Lord 16:26, 11 October 2006 (EDT)

Lifespan?[edit source]

Do we have a source that concretely identifies Ents as being immortal? Eagles were created in the same way, but as far as I know, there's no reason to believe they live forever. So why Ents? --Mord 05:35, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
