Snakes were reptilian creatures, often associated with the forces of darkness, and especially with Morgoth, the first Dark Lord.

Other names

In Quenya, "snake" is ango or lókë. Sindarin has lhûg.

Other versions of the legendarium

In Gnomish, lingos means "snake" and ling means "small snake".[1]
