Roper Family
From Tolkien Gateway
The Roper Family was a young family of Hobbits, an offshoot of the Gamgee Family.
History
Andwise Gamgee adopted the surname Roper in honour of the family trade, which was started two generations earlier.[1]
The Ropers stayed in their ancestral home of Tighfield, while their relatives carried the Gamgee name to other places and followed other trades.
