Ras Morthil must be another name for Andrast, the great headland at the end of the northern arm of the Bay of Belfalas.[1][2]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
The name Ras Morthil likely consists of the Sindarin word ras ("cape, shore") and the word Morthil. Morthil likely contains the elements mor ("dark, black") and the nasally mutated til ("point, spike, (sharp) horn, tine, ending").[3][note 1]
Notes
- ↑ In Aldarion and Erendis it is mentioned that Aldarion "rounded the dark cape of Ras Morthil".
