mîr means "jewel" in Quenya and Sindarin. In Quenya alone, mîr is a cognate of mírë, which also means "jewel".

Examples:

  • Míriel = "Maiden of the Jeweled Garland" (Quenya)
  • Boromir = "Faithful Jewel" (Sindarin)
