Drawn to [[Morgoth|Melkor]]'s splendour before history he was entrusted with the infamous role of Master of the Guard beneath [[Thangorodrim]]. Lungorthin (whose name only appears once) was a Balrog in early stage of The Silmarillion.

After Húrin was captured by Morgoth, Lungorthin smote him on the mouth. Lungorthin bore the title Lord of Balrogs.[1]
