Lumbi

Lumbi was the name of Melko's dwelling after his release from captivity, according to the early version of the legendarium in The Book of Lost Tales.
After his defeat in the Battle of the Silent Pools, it was the place where he was bound, and guarded by Gorgumoth, the hound of Mandos.[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
The name Lumbi is in Qenya, probably being derived from the root LUVU ("dark weather");[2] same as its Gnomish cognates Lumfad[1] and Lumfod ("gloomy-end"), from lum ("cloud")[3] + fod ("end, butt, bottom").[4]
