The ford of the River Bruinen or Loudwater (Also know as the Ford of Rivendell) that lay at the entrance to the valley of Rivendell, said to be under the power of Elrond. In the book this was the place of crossing chosen by Aragorn to enter Rivendell in The Fellowship of the Ring. In the Book it was Glorfindel who helped them cross by placing Frodo on his horse and the horse carried Frodo across just as Elrond and Gandalf summonded a great Flood of Bruinen to carry away the pursuing Nazgul.
