Ettenmoors
From Tolkien Gateway
The Ettenmoors were a mountainous, wild, and untamed land that lay north of Rivendell. It was here that the Witch-king of Angmar fled after his defeat in the Battle of Fornost. It was the home of Trolls, and maybe some Giants and Goblins.
It is speculated that Mount Gram, from where a host of Goblins attacked the Shire, was located in the Ettenmoors.
Etymology
The word etten means "Giant" (from Old English eoten) and is related to the word Ent. It is not known however to what the name refers to. It could be a place connected to Ents, or even the mysterious Giants seen in The Hobbit.
