Dáin's halls were the halls of Durin's Folk in the Grey Mountains, the name coming from the Dwarf-king Dáin I.[1]
History
Little is known about these halls save that in T.A. 2589,[2] Dáin was killed by a great Cold-Drake along with his son Frór at the entrance to the city.[1] A year later, most of Durin's Folk (though not all)[1] abandoned the mountains, and left for Erebor and the Iron Hills lead by Thrór and Grór, respectively, Dáin's other two sons.[1]
Portrayal in adaptations
2018: The Lord of the Rings Online:
- Founded by Thorin I it was known as "Grárik" or the "Grey Kingdom". Its capital was "Thikil-gundu, the Steel Keep", a fortress which pre-dated the kingdom and was also claimed by the "Zhélruka" dwarves of the East.
