The standard of an unnamed chieftain of the Haradrim in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields was a black serpent upon scarlet.

History

At the Battle of the Pelennor Fields King Théoden of Rohan hewed down the bearer of the standard with the black serpent upon scarlet.[1]

Portrayal in adaptations

1981: The Lord of the Rings (1981 radio series):

Dernhelm warns Théoden of the coming of the Black Serpent. He kills the Serpent, but is killed by the Witch-king almost immediately after.

2001-2010: Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game:

The unnamed chieftain of the Haradrim with the banner with a black serpent upon scarlet is given the name Suladân for the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game based on The Lord of the Rings (film series), in which the leader of the Haradrim is one of the Mûmak-riders.[2]
