Template:Royalty infoboxArgonui (T.A. 2757 - 2912, died aged 155) was the thirteenth Chieftain of the Dúnedain, he succeeded his father, Arathorn I, when he was killed by wolves in Third Age 2848
History
Towards the end of his rule, in Third Age 2911, the Fell Winter began with the Brandywine freezing over. This was a catalyst for White Wolves invading Eriador from the North.
In the last year of his reign, great floods devastate Enedwaith and Minhiriath leaving Tharbad ruined and deserted.
Argonui died in Third Age 2912, after having ruled for 64 years, and was followed by his, son Arador.
Etymology
Argonui's name is Sindarin and meaning "Valourious King" coming from the prefix ar- meaning "royal, king", and conui (from caun meaning valour, and ui an adjectival ending) becoming lenited to gonui meaning "valour". Conui can also be considered to mean "commanding".
