- 9 - Heren Hyarmen changes its name to "Heren Hyarmeno", the correct Quenya genitive to mean "Order of the South".

- 11 - At Dawn in Rivendell, the third album of Tolkien Ensemble is released (it was recorded in the previous year). It features recitations by Christopher Lee.
- 23 - The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers wins two Oscars, out of six nominations, at the 75th Academy Awards.
