There is an issue addressed by Foster but not expanded upon. Unless there is an online reference covering it, it is impossible to cover it in the article without resolving to OR or essay-writing.

The problem is this: In the Hobbit, the Carrock is is part of a partial, unnamed ford that lands only to the estern bank of Anduin (so it is impossible to use the Carrock to traverse Anduin). In LOTR we learn that the Beornings keep a toll to some "Ford of Carrock". It is strange to think that the Beornings keep that partial ford, being quite untraversabel; so either the ford of the H was expanded by the time of the War of the Ring, or, as Foster suggests, they refer to another carrock entirely.
