Plaques and Memorials is a list of blue plaques and memorials installed in public places of the United Kingdom to commemorate a link between that location and J.R.R. Tolkien and his family. Often made by The Tolkien Society and local institutions.

2 Darnley Road, West Park[edit | edit source]

The text of the plaque reads:

J.R.R. TOLKIEN CBE
Academic and author lived here between 1924 and 1925. While Reader, later Professor, at the University of Leeds 1920-1925, he collaborated on a new edition of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Tolkien went on to write The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Brooklands Officers’ Hospital, Hull, East Yorkshire[edit | edit source]

The blue plaque reads:

University Parks, Oxford[edit | edit source]

A plaque on a bench dedicated to author J.R.R. Tolkien in the University Parks of Oxford. The bench and two trees ("Laurelin" and "Telperion") planted nearby were donated in 1992 by the Tolkien Centenary Conference. The bench is situated on the western bank of River Cherwell a little bit south of the High Bridge.

President Steyn Avenue, Bloemfontein, South Africa[edit | edit source]

Reads an iron plaque engraved in English and Afrikaans:

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, was born on this site on 3 January 1892.

Bust[edit | edit source]

In the chapel of Exeter College, Oxford, there is a bust of J.R.R. Tolkien made by Faith Tolkien. Above the bust reads:
