Hatholdir was a Númenórean and a descendant of the House of Hador. He was a close friend of King Tar-Meneldur. He had a son named Orchaldor who married Tar-Meneldur's oldest daughter, Ailinel.[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Hatholdir is a Sindarin name. Its meaning is not glossed, but Paul Strack suggests it means "Axe-man" and is a compound of hathol ("axe") and dîr ("man").[2]
