By J.R.R. Tolkien and published in The Father Christmas Letters, 1976, and again (with the decorative borders removed) in The J.R.R. Tolkien Calendar 1979, this painting of the interior of Cliff House at the North Pole, together with a letter describing the event, was delivered to J. R. R.
