:Don't worry. I'm not accusing you of anything. I'm sure you can make good contributions, and making new articles is in part needed, but maybe you could focus more on filling them. That would be very useful. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 21:35, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

== Middle-earτh Shadow of War ==
== Galadriel ==
Hello. Can you upload at least one image related to the videogame [[Middle-earth: Shadow  of War|Middle-earth Shadow of War]]?I don't have the ability to upload images on Tolkien Gateway but you do have this ability.
Hi LorenzoCB. I recently edited the page on Galadriel, but you claimed I disregard terms used in the source and said my edits were poor. I would like to know where I went wrong. I did add a little inference, as some of the story of Galadriel does not align with the main procession of events. None the less it is cannon.
:Hi! I recommend you to make your own account, then you can write all the article about Middle-earth: Shadow  of War, as it is almost empty and you seem to be very interested on it. When you get 50 editions you'll be able to upload images. Now please, stop spamming about that. I won't do it, I personally don't like those games.--[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 14:40, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
I noticed that some part of the page were not chronically correct and missing significant information. I would appreciate clarification. Thanks. {{unsigned|Bobsagit103}}
Hello. I would like to upload an image on page [[Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor]] but I can't upload images on Tolkien Gateway. Can you upload this image that I have uploaded on the specific page.
:There you have it :) You need 50 edits to upload images, btw. Hope you can get them improving the game articles. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 22:11, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

== Dagor Dagorath ==
:I recommend that you act as an example and that you clarify here which parts of the Galadriel page are not chronologically correct or are missing which significant information and provide the reasons and the references to sources for that. Any speculation/theory/inference should be clearly prased as a possibility not a fact and the reason on which the possibility is based should be provided and accompanied by a reference for that reason (i.e. "It is possible that ..., because"). Usually LorenzoCB is a thorough editor and he rewrote the Galaxriel page. --[[User:Akhorahil|Akhorahil]] ([[User talk:Akhorahil|talk]]) 06:40, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
Hi LorenzoCB, great job on your rewriting of the [[Dagor Dagorath]] article! Also, thank you for the kind corrections of my woeful ignorance of early names for characters in the Legendarium. Oops. :) --{{User:Holdwine Meriadoc/sig}} 18:26, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
:It was just a detail. Thank you for correcting my English, I couldn't imagine I made so many grammatical mistakes! --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 23:03, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

== Help ==
:Hi. Akhorahil, I can answer by myself, thanks. Bobsagit, I undid your edits mainly because you used terms that are not used in the sources; for example "Lady of Eregion" (even if she acted as the lady there, the term appears nowhere IIRC). Also, Galadriel created alliances against the growing Evil, but nobody knew it was Sauron till the creation of the One Ring. The name "Annatar" is not given in the source used in the text. You removed several details, like dates and events. Besides, I'll soon revise the article, in which I will probably remove the idea of Galadriel and Celeborn as the founders of Eregion, among many other things. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 10:28, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
Can you help me fix what I have done on page Isildur because I don't know what to do.
:I didn't see many problems. I fixed the style. Btw, I added the cover of Shadows of War. Last time I confused the games and uploaded the one for Shadows of Mordor :P Remember to sign when you write in a talkpage. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 17:09, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi there. I don't know if you've noticed but there has been a convention (which isn't fully realised but increasingly I have slowly implemented) that for image categories the order has been 1) Artist 2) Where it's from 3) what/who it is depicting and these should be listed in alphabetical order (see [[:File:Alan Lee - The Elvenking's Gate.jpg]] as an example). If you could keep this in mind when changing or adding categories that would be appreciated. --{{User:Mith/sig}} 07:36, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
== Trotter ==
:Hi! Thanks for explaining that. I was trying to include the categories in alphabetical order, as I didn't relize there was a formal style for that. I'll do as you say. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 11:53, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

:Sure, although [[:File:Mysilvergreen - In a dungeon.jpg|this one]] and [[:File:Ted Nasmith - Tuor and Voronwë See Túrin at the Pool of Ivrin.jpg|this one]] weren't in alphabetical order. --{{User:Mith/sig}} 12:03, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
Hello.Why did you reversed the edit that I did on the page Trotter?This character is non-canon, he was not used in this form that Tolkien originally imagined.This name was not used eventually by Tolkien. Do you deny that? ---[[User:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου]], 12.16, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

== Webcite ==
:Hi. You reversed my edit in first place instead of discussing it. There is no not-canon because everything is canon in its own context. That's the policy of the wiki and that's why I finally deleted the category. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 13:24, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Hi. Just a note to remind you that, as per the usage information on [[Template:Webcite]], the "accessed" field is not optional; you should use this to show the date you accessed the page. Thanks! --{{User:Mith/sig}} 12:08, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

:As the date showed up authomatically I wasn't including it the last times, but now I see that it was just some kind of preview. Thanks for pointing it out. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 12:19, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
I would like to explain something.I uploaded these images today in a hurry.I didnt't do it on purpose.Do you understand what I am saying? I would also like to ask you something. Why did you deleted the image that I just uploaded again?It is permitted here, on Tolkien Gateway, to be upoaded images type webp.--[[User:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου]] ([[User talk:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|talk]]) 00:10, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
==Lost Tales==
Hi Lorenzo, I appreciate much your work on expanding the pages on HoMe.

Sometimes I have been thinking if we should dedicate some virtual "space" of this wiki for the Lost Tales continuity, I mean we already have LT-related articles like [[Gruir]], [[Gilfanon]], [[Noldoli]], [[Inglor]] and so on. However for topics that are covered in published canon, we use the "Other version of the Legendarium" section, see for example [[Tol_Eressea#Other_versions_of_the_Legendarium]] or [[Mandos#Other_versions_of_the_Legendarium]]. But I believe there is much more that deserves to be told about the LT topics. So I had the thought about creating alternate pages dedicated to the "alternate" versions of those topics, something like [[Tol Eressea (Lost Tales)]]. Perhaps we should also include them in categories like "Lost Tales characters" or "Lost Tales locations" and even have some template on the top of each article that notifies we are talking about the "Lost Tales continuity", instead of the generic one about Tolkien's early, unfinished and best thoughts. So we can have a fully functional sub-wiki within the wiki covering the LT topics in a clean way. Similar to how Wookieepedia handles the Canon and the Legends articles.

These are my first thoughts, and I'd like to know your thoughts, before opening a forum topic. [[User:Sage|Sage]] 23:44, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
I would like to explain something extra.As you can see, I just upladed more images.I have nothing more to say.But I would like these images not to be deleted, because they are good images visually, and not only that.What do you say? I am not trying to destroy Tolkien Gateway.I am trying to improve it.--[[User:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου]] ([[User talk:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|talk]]) 02:56, 18 November 2022 (UTC)

:Hi Sage! Actually, I hate templates on the top of articles (because of how they look), but yours seems a good idea. It could help to clean the sections of OVOTL, that sometimes are a messy hotchpotch. However, I would wait until we have completed at least all the chapter summaries. The LT are a difficult topic, as there is not really a continuity (for example, I personally think that Christopher should have published the ''Part Two'' first), so I think it would be better to have a good base before clasifying things. And yes, I have planned to make those summaries at some point, don't know when.
:Hi. I know you are not trying to destroy TG. You are making a necessary work. There was no problem you uploaded those images with bad file names, a common beginner's mistake. But why do you excuse yourself, and ask others to fix it, and then you proceed to upload more with the same problems? Also, webp is an annoying format; that's why I reuploaded those. You cannot make others to clean what you can easlily do while uploading an image. Please, take this into account when you come back. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 06:41, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
:Happy new year. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 00:28, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello again. Please have a look at the article [[Chasm of Ilmen]] and tell me if we can identify which is the particular earlier (1931) and later (1951) Silmarillion CT says about. Obviously he refers to the Quenta Noldorinwa and the Later Quenta? Or perhaps one of them is the Quenta of the Lost Road? I am not very comfortable with the versions and the dates. [[User:Sage|Sage]] 17:43, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
== Say Something ==
:Hello. It took me a while to find the page, you should try to include them more often (if you have the book on hand, of course). Yes, "the 'Silmarillion' that followed Q" (1937) is the ''[[Quenta Silmarillion (Lost Road)]]'' (he cites LR p.242), while the text used in the 77's ''Silmarillion'' is ''Annals of Aman'' §177 (1951). --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 19:06, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

==Thank you==
Hello.Thank you.I will try not to do it again.But this is not the first time that I upload images here, on Tolkien Gateway, as you may know.Maybe I do it in a hurry, but I do it with good intentions, not with bad intentions, I mean to destroy Tolkien Gateway.Do you understand what I am saying?--[[User:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου]] ([[User talk:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|talk]]) 15:00, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for fixing my error on Christopher’s death date, LorenzoCB! I originally did have it as 16 January, but then I saw it as 15 January and thought it was an incorrect time conversion on my part. Whoops! — {{User:Holdwine Meriadoc/sig}} 23:15, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
== Arondir image ==

:Don't worry. That error has been giving problems in Wikipedia, as many newspapers were giving it mistakenly, and seems like the own Tolkien Family asked to some Tolkien Societies to clarify it.--[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 10:36, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
I would like to explain something.I don't know, something went wrong possibly.I didn't do it on purpose (the image of Arondir that I just uploaded).Anyway.But I didn't do it with bad intentions. --[[User:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου]] ([[User talk:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|talk]]) 21:15, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
==Foaloke==
The foaloke is a type of dragon distinct from the Uruloke, it shouldn't be discussed in the same article. I think all relevant information should be contained in its distinct article. [[User:Sage|Sage]] 17:26, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

:''[[Foa]]'' was changed to mean "breath", but it doesn't specify if it is because a foaloke "breathes fire" (being then an uruloke), which is the most obvious deduction, as a dragon that just breathes has nothing in particular. However, I agree with having a separated article, but you should make it starting from ''foa'' as "breath", not "hoard". In OVOTL could be included the description of Glorund as a foaloke. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 19:04, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
:Don't worry. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 12:56, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

== Sauron ==
== Images ==
Firstly, I am not explaining Sauron's origins, but why he fell. Introductions should never be blunt. The sections expand the content of briefly presented in the introduction.

Secondly, the quote I put is from The Silmarillion - Valaquenta: Of the Enemies. Take a look if you will, I believe it is the last sentence in the paragraph concerning Sauron. --[[User:LordoftheEarth|LordoftheEarth]] 12:51, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Hello. I would like to ask you something. I would like to rename the image File:Shadow of Mordor - Ratbag2.jpg to File:Shadow of Mordor - Ratbag.jpg and to delete the image File:Shadow of Mordor - Ratbag.jpg that exists.I uploaded both of these images, but in the first image (the image File:Shadow of Mordor - Ratbag.jpg), when I uploaded it, I didn't see that this image has subtitles (actually I uploaded in a hurry), and that is why I uploaded the image File:Shadow of Mordor - Ratbag2.jpg and that is why I also want the image File:Shadow of Mordor - Ratbag.jpg to be deleted.Can you do it? It sounds complicated.Do you understand what I am saying? --[[User:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου]] ([[User talk:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|talk]]) 21:39, 25 November 2022 (UTC)

:Ah, as you removed all my edit, I didn't see you later put the quote that there was in the first place. If you want to help the wiki, there are many things that need to be improved: [[Tolkien Gateway:To-do]]. But the Sauron article is one of the few that are pretty fine, that's why I'm concerned with it.--[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 12:59, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
:Hi. It's done. Please, avoid uploading images in a hurry. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 16:00, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

Sorry if I myself am not that receptive or even annoying at times ... I'm having a bad time ... broke up with a girl and all that ... Let's leave  the Sauron article as it is for now. I added on the talk page that I changed the image so if someone thinks it doesn't work then we'll change it. I'll try to help out on other articles as well, of course. I appreciate your dedication to the wiki! A nice time till next time! --[[User:LordoftheEarth|LordoftheEarth]] 13:07, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Hello.I would like to ask you something.I didn't think it clearly about these two images that I just uploaded (about Nazgul leaving Minas Morgul).So, can you see and judge which of these two images needs to be deleted?In my opinion, the File:The Lord of the Rings - The Motion Picture Trilogy - Nazgul exiting Minas Morgul.jpg‎ needs to be deleted because this image is not very clear.I will try no to do it again. What do you say? --[[User:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου]] ([[User talk:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|talk]]) 22:05, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

:Sorry for being harsh when I point out the mistakes in your Talkpage. I get nervous when people make many edits for just one article, but I should have been more polite. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 16:11, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
:The last one uploaded is better. If you want an image to be deleted, just put the <nowiki>{{delete}}</nowiki> tag. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 22:42, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

I would like to point out that I disagree with the choices of the new pics. However I would like to say that some of the recent edits were legit and shouldn't be reverted. When a user makes a lot of edits and another user doesn't agree with stylistic mistakes, they shouldn't revert all the edits, but rather fix the particular points. [[User:Sage|Sage]] 17:10, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
I would like to ask you something.If you see the [[:File:The Rings of Power (TV series) - Celebrimbor.jpg]] closely, you will see that the name Amazon Studios appears there.I uploaded a new version of this image without the name Amazon Studios, but it still appears there.Can you do something about that?I don't know what else to do.Today I noticed the existence of this name on the image. Do you undestand what I am saying? --[[User:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου]] ([[User talk:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|talk]]) 15:04, 03 December 2022 (UTC)

== Melkor's Messenger ==
:Apaprently, the current one doesn't have the little name. Sometimes when you revert an image or upload a new version, it takes a time to be updated, so better leave it so you don't revert things to the wrong one again. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 15:09, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
I edited out Sauron and Ungoliant of the Servants of Melkor category, the reasons why are faily logical. Leaving these aside, does it say anyway if Melkor's messenger, Langon, in the Book of Lost Tales is an Ainu? I saw he is mentioned as such in the Allies and Servants of Morgoth section and I don't remember J.R.R. saying anything on Langon's nature. This is all I found on this emissary:
"Melko heard him and was in doubt, he would not come, but sent Langon his servant..."--[[User:LordoftheEarth|LordoftheEarth]] 12:34, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

:I disagree with removing that category from Sauron. He was his servant for a whole age. He can also have the category of 'Evil' because he later became independent, but he was a true servant, it doesn't matter if he forsook Morgoth; unlike Ungoliant, who was never under Morgoth's command. I fixed the info of [[Langon]], thanks for pointing that out. But there are better things than caring for the categories.--[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 13:49, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
Hello.I would like to ask you something. Why did you deleted the files Tar-Miiel No2 and Mount Doom erupts No2? All these images were related to The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power series.Now, there is only one image Tar-Miiel as depicted in The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power series, and the same thing happens also about  Mount Doom on image in The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power series. Should these images be used somewhere, in some page I mean, and if yes, why? --[[User:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου]] ([[User talk:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου|talk]]) 16:39, 04 December 2022 (UTC)

Can you give me an example about that Gnomes category? For example, we should add this to the articles about Feanor and Beren ? [[User:Sage|Sage]] 18:41, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
== Old Users ==

:I mean for those characters that didn't have a development beyond the "Gnome" phase, like [[Gilfanon]], [[Littleheart]]... If in the future we make articles for Beren the Gnome and others, that category would be applied. But now those examples are categorized as "Noldor", anachronically. (You can answer me in your talkpage, btw). --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 19:37, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

:Answered, I hope I helped. Do you take care of the matter? --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 13:39, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
:I have never been in contact with Ederchil, but I message Mith once in a while: he is very busy. I assume that having me around allows him to not worry about TG. :Eduardo did work as a consultant for the movies, but he told me he had no impact, so it was not pertinent to include that info. He also asked me to remove that link, as he lost his web domain. Sorry, I should have indicated that, but as I am the only one involved with that article I didn't bother.

:I'm leaving because the wiki requires time, and I want to focus more on other projects and on my spiritual life. But I'm still around here, I want to finish some things before. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 19:00, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
I actually got on here to ask [[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] a question because I don't see how to Privately Message someone on here: I am on TG CONSTANTLY. I mean, at least 3 or 4 hours per day, quoting it to others, etc. Most of my editing is when someone tells me they found a typo or other small things like that. I've never found anything horribly wrong. Anyway, today I received an email that you edited the Tengwar page, undoing something I'd edited. However, all I did on that page was change "indepedent sounds" to "independent sounds". I'm positive I didn't do anything else, but I see you did some rearranging. Is that why it emailed me, to alert me to the rearrangements? (also if there's a way to PM so everyone doesn't have to read everything...) {{unsigned|Chad in Texas}}

:Hi Chad. No, I just checked, and your edit wasn't undo. I edited the Tengwar article an hour ago or so. Hello. :I found it on the internet, yes, Pinterest or something. I just searched one with a good quality and then I removed the frame following the policy of the wiki. Usually the images of Alan Lee have the title of the chapter from where they come, but there is no rule about that, so I put a more pertinent title. Are you sure we need a gallery for ''Beren and Lúthien''? That imples uploading all its images... --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 12:17, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

:Yes I know about them. I wasn't involved with TG back then. Those meetings were hold back when communication was more complicated and there were more admins and users involved with the wiki. The past tense for the verb to teach in the third paragraph of your user page is wrong. You should  write "Tolkien tought me ...". To teach is a verb with an irregular past tense. The past tense of teach is tought. I am not going to write anything in spanish here, but you are welcome to correct my spanish if I ever write anything in spanish. I picked up some spanish by listening to people and by reading the Diario de Cadiz during vacations in Spain (I have to admit that I had latin at school and french at school and at university, so I had some basis in roman languages to start from). My native language is german. I once read an article about books owned by J.R.R. Tolkien and was amazed to see that most of the books o that list were written in german. --[[User:Akhorahil|Akhorahil]] 20:19, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

:Much appreciated! You can freely edit my Userpage if you want correct any grammar mistake. I'm searching now about it and the past tense of teach is actually t'''a'''ught: seems that t'''o'''ught is a common mistake, but thanks again for pointing out mine. About Tolkien's German books, Philology had had a strong development in Germany some time before Tolkien began college, so it was imperative for him to have those. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 20:47, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

First off, I just wanted to say thank you for all the work you've done on TG, it's always nice to see your username pop up under recent changes. I did want to mention clarily though, since I'm not entirely sure it's a word. I've seen you use it a few times, especially in etymology sections. You can find the sources for the names and titles of Sauron that you asked for in the "Summary:" text box of your latest edit to the Sauron page on the Sauron page in the Origin section, in the Second Age section in the second paragraph, in the Black Years section in the last paragraph, in the On Númenor section in the second paragraph, in the The Necromancer section in the first paragraph, in the Etymology section and in the Other names and title section. If you have e-books of The Lord of the Rings and of the Silmarillion you can enter a name or title in the search field and look in which chapter or chapters on in which entry in the index it is included. --[[User:Akhorahil|Akhorahil]] 14:43, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

:I know the references of the Elvish names (I included most of them). ::I can try to help pin some of them down. 'Black Hand' appears a couple pages into the "Of Túrin Turambar" chapter in the ''Silmarillion'', although I can't tell if that refers to Morgoth or Sauron, I would have to reread the chapter. However, in ''The Two Towers'', in The Black Gate is Closed, Gollum uses the name 'Black Hand' twice in reference to Sauron: "But master is going to take it to him, straight the the Black Hand" "He has only four [fingers] on the Black Hand". In ''Return of the King'' under The Pyre of Denethor, Gandalf twice refers to Sauron as the Dark Power, and the term is used later in the book. I'll work on some of the others, and try to add the references once I find them. Do the references just go in the infobox next to each name, and should all the names be references, even those that appear later in the article? --[[User:Grace18|Grace18]] 16:06, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

:::That's useful, thanks! I'm making a proper list in the Names section, there we can include the references and explanation when necessary. ==First Age==
Hey, which "single reference" are you referring to, and what is the "wiki's policy" concerning the "First Age of the Sun"? I am not aware of any such explicit policy and I think the "Ages of the Sun" is a fanon term (I looked for it in HoMe). [[User:Sage|Sage]] 09:47, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

:As far as I know, the main reference to the "First Age" as the continuation of the Elder Days is the one from the Appendices that says the Exile of the Noldor happened at the end of the First Age. However, Tolkien, the wiki and the fandom use massively the term to refer to the [[Timeline/First Age|dates]] after the rising of the Sun; it is not an explicit policy, but quite implicit. I said "First Age of the Sun" just to point out the difference between the different conceptions, I'm not proposing anything. There is a terminology hole and we should clarify that before mixing things around.--[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 11:18, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
Regards
::There is also a reference in HoMe that says that the First Age is much longer. Tolkien uses FA dates in the Grey Annals I think, but he doesn't equate FA 1 with solar year 1. This is a convention that began with Foster, which he admits is only a convention, and we follow it for better or worse, but no way it is a policy of the wiki, implicit or not, that we should consider everywhere in the articles that the First Age began in what Foster terms FA 1. Perhaps you might find some such references made years ago by other editors but it is not the first nor the last misconception that we detect in hindsight and we try to fix. On the contrary, that's what we should do. And yea, we follow fanon conventions when there is no better alternative, and when it is not contradicting the canon, but I think accepting "FA 1" as the beginning of the First Age within an article, is a mistake that perpetuates the misconception, and we have the option to avoid. I think removing or editing the First Age title in your list would do less "harm" than leaving it there. [[User:Sage|Sage]] 15:29, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

:::Where in the whole HoMe? I don't deny the facts, tho, but we cannot follow a convention and fix misconceptions at the same time. This is more complex than I thought and I'm just wondering, but I think that if we want to keep consistency in the wiki (which I think is prioritary), we have two options:
:Hello. Generally we didn't include US editions for the book galleries, as it would be an overwhelming amount of work in some cases. Are there more editions of this book missing? I guess we could include them. Thanks. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 10:34, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
:::*To move the dates in [[Timeline/First Age]] to "Years of the Sun ##" or whatever proper term, and be sure that every mention to the "First Age" in the wiki corresponds to the same concept.
:::*To keep Foster's terminology, and explain the problem in the [[First Age]] article (which already does, btw).
:::What we cannot do is saying "the Exile of the Noldor happened at the end of the First Age in the {{FA|1}}". --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 16:16, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for fixing the text and references of the Ancalagon page after the edits by an Anonymous user that seems to use different IP addresses and that does not seem to know the templates for the references. I fixed the text and the references on the Carn Dum page after the edits by what seems Tonne the same user with his or her references without templates. Some statements in the page were wrong and a lot was about Angmar and not about Carn Dum and were speculative statements. In my opinion, it does not Make Sense to duplicate much from the Angmar page and to speculate that all troops from Angmar came from Carn Dum and that every statement about Angmar also refers to Carn Dum. I focused the page in what is known about Carn Dum. Maybe you can Check the etymology section. --[[User:Akhorahil|Akhorahil]] 15:11, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

== Carn Dûm etymology ==
Hello LorenzoCB, I am MEGRIMLOCK. I have noticed a lot of blocking happening throughout TG because of inaccuracies, and I want to apologize in advance if I am one of those causing the inaccuracies. I am a lore-2 Tolkienist, and many of my edits are small things about the obvious parts of Middle-Earth. If I make a mistake, please tell me about it on my [[User talk:MEGRIMLOCK|talk]] page so that I may fix it. Thank you in advance, [[User:MEGRIMLOCK|MEGRIMLOCK]], 4:14, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
The statement that Carndoom and Caron-dûn mean Red Valley '''in Noldorin''' is just a theory, because the note in Return of the Shadow only says that it means Red Valley, but it does not say in which language Carndoom and Caron-dûn are. Of course we can make a theory based on components, like carn, caron, doom and dûn. Can we leave the theory that it is Noldorin or Sindarin to Mr. Salo and others and stick to the facts that are available in the reference for the Statement? --[[User:Akhorahil|Akhorahil]] 18:24, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

:''Caron-dûm'' has not only known [[Noldorin]] elements which correspond with the given gloss "Red Valley". The name was replaced by ''[[Nanduhirion]]'' (RS:433), which is Sindarin in LOTR, the next phase of the Noldorin language. I don't see any problem explaining what language a name is even if it is not explicitly indicated in the given reference: by sight an Elvish name can be easily identify as Q(u)enya or Sindarin/Noldorin, which is not the case with ''Carn-dûm'', as it casually corresponds with a Gaelic term. Tolkien didn't write every single name indicating "this is Quenya, this is Sindarin", so being that strict we would not be able to categorize most of the articles with Elvish names. Anyway, I'll change the section trying to keep order. --[[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] 19:34, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Lorenzo. What do you think about the [[:Talk:Ages of the Children of Ilúvatar#Proposal of the merging|topic]]?

In my recent [[:Talk:First Age#Concerning the beginning of the First Age|discussion]] with [[:User:Akhorahil|Akhorahil]] he pointed out that even if the term "First Age of the Children of Iluvatar" is supposed to mean the same as the term "First Age", there is no clear definition of the beginning of the term "First Age" alone. Fortunately, I did find the clear definition in ''[[The Nature of Middle-earth]]''. -- [[User:Ar-Zigûr|Ar-Zigûr]] ([[User talk:Ar-Zigûr|talk]]) 09:55, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

:Hi. I can't say much now without checking the sources, but at first sight I agree it seems that the FA began with the Awakening. Btw, I think "FA of the Children of Ilúvatar" refers to that age as the first of the many ages of the Children of Ilúvatar, not that it is a proper name for the FA. Also, the article "Ages" could be focused in the concept in general, not only to the historical reckoning, so I don't approve merging FA of the Children of Ilúvatar into it before checking some things.  [[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 11:06, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

== Midway ==
Hello! Is it allowed to use Midway AI images created by You, Hyarion, and IvarTheBoneless in Kontuwiki? And if so, with what kind of licence? Yours, Tik / Kontuwiki Tik 05:30, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
: Great question Tik! Always nice seeing you around. Thanks for asking. I'm not familiar with Midway yet, I'll check it out. Do you have a particular article/image in mind? We want to make sure the AI illustrations are used as a last resort if we can't find any artists to illustrate a subject. As the last thing we want is for artists to feel like we prefer AI over their hard work. AI art currently cannot be copyrighted[https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/ai-works-not-copyrightable-studios-1235570316/] at least in the US, but it's an ongoing discussion and is subject to change. We can continue to use the template <nowiki>{{copyright-ai|Midway|[[User:Username|Username]]}}</nowiki> and in the future we can add more clarifying text regarding the lack of copyright on the images. You might have noticed I've prefixed the file names with the name of the AI engine and not the user uploading the file. This is not rule, but it's an effort to not give the impression that I should be given much credit for the creation of an AI image. --[[User:Hyarion|Hyarion]] ([[User talk:Hyarion|talk]]) 14:01, 6 September 2023 (UTC)

::::: It looks great. Check out [[:Category:Images by AI]] if you're interested in more - as far as I'm concerned, any images prompted by me are yours to do as you please: '''however, keep in mind that those images were generated by Hyarion, so you should ask his permission first, as well as Lorenzo's, since he too prompted, modified and altered many of the AI prompts.''' - [[User:IvarTheBoneless|IvarTheBoneless]] ([[User talk:IvarTheBoneless|talk]]) 11:17, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

== Reply to Discussion on "The Council of Elrond" ==

Apologies for posting here; I've been trying to post on the relevant discussion page, but I keep getting server error HTTP 403 every time I try to post. I hope it goes through here, and maybe you can copy my text there.

I absolutely agree with the length problem on this particular summary. The only problem is that this is ''not'' meant to be a synopsis (the blurb at the top of the article is that; just a single paragraph long), but a recapitulation. I've been trying to include much of the factual information from each chapter as well as an outline of its narrative structure both on its own and in relation to the rest of the book. It's worked moderately well for previous chapters, but this particular chapter is incredibly dense compared to any of the ones that preceded it: practically every paragraph in the original text contains new information, lore, or character development.

As I've said in the past, I would very much welcome help in paring down the text, though I always argue that it should be discussed in advance to make sure that specific important things aren't removed - such as information that would not be contained in any other article. The point of writing recapitulations is to describe the narrative, after all, as opposed to in-universe articles. But given the size of this monster, it might need a machete rather than a surgical knife.

I should point out, however, that despite its monstrous size this summary is still significantly shorter than the original text. It is ''not'' necessarily preferable to read the chapter itself; a recapitulation distills the information to the point where you can browse through points rather quickly, locating a specific piece of information you've been looking for within the narrative without having to decipher the narrative yourself. If this summary fails to do so, that would be a problem with my writing (not with the current size of the recap), and you would be very welcome to step in and fix that without any discussion.

:Sorry, but you are basically imposing your own view into the wiki. As an encyclopedic project, we must keep consistency on articles. Chapter '''Sysnopsis''' (which is how the sections should asctually be called, not "Summary") should not have different approachs. I agree a lot with keeping the chapter's structure, and that TLOTR and The Hobbit chapters needed revision. I appreciate your dedication and I see you are willing to go to the end with this revision (which not many editors can say that), but I think you would help a lot by sticking to the wiki's format and reduce the lenght of the current synopsis. As always I'd like to hear other opinions, but I don't think you will be able to convince me to read this recapitulation instead of the actual chapter.  [[User:LorenzoCB|LorenzoCB]] ([[User talk:LorenzoCB|talk]]) 16:34, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

== Could I have your help with something? ==

Hi, you seem to be the one of the people most active running this day to day so I hope you don't mind me asking for your help. I was adding in references for the [[War of the Ring]] page and one of them I couldn't get right no matter how hard I tried. I keep getting the message: Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag. I interpreted it just forgetting that last part of the reference but I checked and I'm not so I'm not entirely sure what I did wrong. Thanks so much! [[User:Aragorn II|Aragorn II]] ([[User talk:Aragorn II|talk]]) 05:32, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

:You did great! That reference syntax is one of the trickiest parts to learn. When a trailing ref tag is missing, MediaWiki won't realize this until the beginning of the next ref tag, which is where the error will be displayed. So the actual problem was actually just a bit farther above where you were looking :) Thanks so much for all your help! Don't worry. I'm not accusing you of anything. I'm sure you can make good contributions, and making new articles is in part needed, but maybe you could focus more on filling them. That would be very useful. --LorenzoCB (talk) 21:35, 10 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Galadriel

Hi LorenzoCB. I recently edited the page on Galadriel, but you claimed I disregard terms used in the source and said my edits were poor. I would like to know where I went wrong. I did add a little inference, as some of the story of Galadriel does not align with the main procession of events. None the less it is cannon. I noticed that some part of the page were not chronically correct and missing significant information. I would appreciate clarification. Thanks. Unsigned comment by Bobsagit103 (talk • contribs).

I recommend that you act as an example and that you clarify here which parts of the Galadriel page are not chronologically correct or are missing which significant information and provide the reasons and the references to sources for that. --Akhorahil (talk) 06:40, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi. --LorenzoCB (talk) 10:28, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Please block the users Jamesmaria1525 and Mariajames1525 and their IP address

The reason is spam if you look at the edit. --Akhorahil (talk) 06:44, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Trotter

Hello.Why did you reversed the edit that I did on the page Trotter?This character is non-canon, he was not used in this form that Tolkien originally imagined.This name was not used eventually by Tolkien. Do you deny that? ---User:Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου, 12.16, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Hi. You reversed my edit in first place instead of discussing it. There is no not-canon because everything is canon in its own context. That's the policy of the wiki and that's why I finally deleted the category. --LorenzoCB (talk) 13:24, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Images

I would like to explain something.I uploaded these images today in a hurry.I didnt't do it on purpose.Do you understand what I am saying? I would also like to ask you something. Why did you deleted the image that I just uploaded again?It is permitted here, on Tolkien Gateway, to be upoaded images type webp.--Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 00:10, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I would like to explain something extra.As you can see, I just upladed more images.I have nothing more to say.But I would like these images not to be deleted, because they are good images visually, and not only that.What do you say? I am not trying to destroy Tolkien Gateway.I am trying to improve it.--Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 02:56, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi. --LorenzoCB (talk) 06:41, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Say Something

Hello.Thank you.I will try not to do it again.But this is not the first time that I upload images here, on Tolkien Gateway, as you may know.Maybe I do it in a hurry, but I do it with good intentions, not with bad intentions, I mean to destroy Tolkien Gateway.Do you understand what I am saying?--Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 15:00, 19 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Arondir image

I would like to explain something.I don't know, something went wrong possibly.I didn't do it on purpose (the image of Arondir that I just uploaded).Anyway.But I didn't do it with bad intentions. --Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 21:15, 19 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Images

--Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 21:39, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi. It's done. Please, avoid uploading images in a hurry. --LorenzoCB (talk) 16:00, 26 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

--Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 22:05, 27 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The last one uploaded is better. If you want an image to be deleted, just put the {{delete}} tag. --LorenzoCB (talk) 22:42, 27 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I would like to ask you something.If you see the File:The Rings of Power (TV series) - Celebrimbor.jpg closely, you will see that the name Amazon Studios appears there.I uploaded a new version of this image without the name Amazon Studios, but it still appears there.Can you do something about that?I don't know what else to do.Today I noticed the existence of this name on the image. Do you undestand what I am saying? --Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 15:04, 03 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Apaprently, the current one doesn't have the little name. Sometimes when you revert an image or upload a new version, it takes a time to be updated, so better leave it so you don't revert things to the wrong one again. --LorenzoCB (talk) 15:09, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

--Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 16:39, 04 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Because they were redundant files. Please, don't make me explain everything I do. --LorenzoCB (talk) 23:00, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Old Users

I would like to ask you something.I have noticed that Users Ederchil and Mith don't interfere in Tolkien Gateway's function anymore.Do you know why? I am saying that because they remain administrators of Tolkien Gateway. Do you have any contact with them or not? Do you know something more about them generally? --Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk), 22:47, 05 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have never been in contact with Ederchil, but I message Mith once in a while: he is very busy. I assume that having me around allows him to not worry about TG. In case I left, I'd let him know; but you know, being an admin doesn't oblige us to be active here. --LorenzoCB (talk) 23:00, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think that User:Mith is the current chair of English Tolkien Society, isn't it? His real name is Shaun Gunner, I think. Or not? Furthemore, I would like to ask you and something else. Is there any active American user here, on Tolkien Gateway or not? Right now, I mean, of American nationality and origins. --Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk), 23:12, 05 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's well stated in Shaun's article he is Mith. I'm not giving you more info than the users are willing to give in their userpage. Why don't you ask in the Discord server if there is an American around? Btw, you are active there: why don't you just text me there instead of using my talkpage constantly? --LorenzoCB (talk) 23:33, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου, I am Chad Bornholdt, the "Chad in Texas" you hear about on several podcasts (Tolkien Professor,Prancing Pony,etc.) Do you have a question related to the USA & Tolkien? I also know Shawn Gunner if you need me to contact him. (I'm easy to find on FB & I love helping people with Tolkien!)

I actually got on here to ask LorenzoCB a question because I don't see how to Privately Message someone on here: I am on TG CONSTANTLY. I mean, at least 3 or 4 hours per day, quoting it to others, etc. Most of my editing is when someone tells me they found a typo or other small things like that. I've never found anything horribly wrong. Anyway, today I received an email that you edited the Tengwar page, undoing something I'd edited. However, all I did on that page was change "indepedent sounds" to "independent sounds". I'm positive I didn't do anything else, but I see you did some rearranging. Is that why it emailed me, to alert me to the rearrangements? (also if there's a way to PM so everyone doesn't have to read everything...) Unsigned comment by Chad in Texas (talk • contribs).

Hi Chad. No, I just checked, and your edit wasn't undo. I edited the Tengwar article an hour ago or so. You must have clicked on "Watch page", so you got an email alerting you that the page has been edited. We no longer have the option to directly send emails to users, unless it is provided in the userpage. But you can join the Chat if you want. LorenzoCB (talk) 23:33, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

172.70.206.107

Hello. An unregistered user named 172.70.206.107 did a vandalism I think on page The Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game‎.For now, it's OK, I reversed it, I fixed it I mean, but I suggest you not to block him for now at least. What do you say? --Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 00:28, 12 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I usually block reiterative vandals, and I prefer avoid blocking IDs. You don't need to consult me about undoing vandalism/spam. --LorenzoCB (talk) 01:16, 12 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I just suggested it.I didn't insist. --Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 01:21, 12 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Tolkien Gateway:Meetings

Hello.I would like to ask you something. Do you know about Tolkien Gateway:Meetings? If you dont understand, this is what I am talking about. Why doesn't anyone of you make these meetings like these of the past? You are an administrator, so you have the ability to do such a meeting.I am not an administrator, so I dont have this abiliy.Besides, I dont think will answer to such a call, because I am not administrator. So, why such meetings are yet to come here, on Tolkien Gateway? --Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 14:51, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes I know about them. I wasn't involved with TG back then. Those meetings were hold back when communication was more complicated and there were more admins and users involved with the wiki. Currently, important decisions are taken by Hyarion and me, who are publically in contact in the Discord server. Actually, you could talk to me more easily there rather than in my talkpage. --LorenzoCB (talk) 15:31, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Tolkien Gateway anniversary

Hello.I would like to say something.January 1st of 2023, (I mean in seven days from now on), marks the twentieth anniversary of the creation of Tolkien Gateway.Should this be celebrated somehow, by organizing an online party, I mean? If you want, you can sugget it and to the other users of Tolkien Gateway. What do you say? --Γιάννης Ευαγγελίου (talk) 22:30, 23 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello. I believe TG's anniversaries are counted from 3 June 2005, but anycase I agree it would be a nice idea to meet up. I commented about it a while ago in the Discord server. Idk if everyone (including me) will be free on new year day, but I'll ask which day would be best. --LorenzoCB (talk) 10:05, 24 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Cirth pages' problems

I am on TG several hours a day, usually fixing very small errors. (I know Tolkien extremely well. I know Wiki very little.)

I am also in the process of making a "Cirth Training" spreadsheet.

I noticed a LOT of problems with the Cirth pages, but there are so many that I don't want to change anything until I talk to who created them to see why they laid out the pages as they did. I believe their interpretation of JRR's in-world history of Cirth development is way off, but I want to ensure I'm not just misunderstanding their intentions.

What do you think my best path for finding & discussing with the author all the following pages? "Cirth" "Certhas Daeron" "Angerthas Daeron" "Angerthas Moria" "Angerthas Erebor"

Chad Bornholdt (Chad.Bornholdt12px-nospam.svg.pnggmail.com) User:Chad in Texas, 26 March 2023

Hi. Remember this is a wiki open to everyone. No article is authored and you are free to edit any of them, but I understand why you may want to talk. You can check previous edits in the History section of an article (commonly above in the right). I notice User:Sage made the main edits for the Cirth article, no idea if he made the mistakes you have in mind. I agree those have some issue, seeing them at first sight. Again, feel free to edit, always following the TG:Manual of Style and adding the required references. --LorenzoCB (talk) 12:01, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Blocking me

Hello LorenzoCB, I am MEGRIMLOCK. I have noticed a lot of blocking happening throughout TG because of inaccuracies, and I want to apologize in advance if I am one of those causing the inaccuracies. I am a lore-2 Tolkienist, and many of my edits are small things about the obvious parts of Middle-Earth. If I make a mistake, please tell me about it on my talk page so that I may fix it. Thank you in advance, MEGRIMLOCK, 4:14, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello. Don't worry. My function is not looking for users to block. I'm actually quite patient and we will teach you if you do something wrong. I'll warn you always before blocking, unless you don't keep respect.--LorenzoCB (talk) 17:35, 27 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thank you.-- MEGRIMLOCK 6:07, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

Sorry to Bother you again

Sorry to bother you again, but while I was editing other pages it would not allow me to edit, saying that my IP address was used by Dour1234 and that I was not allowed to edit. I can assure you that I am not Dour1234, and I am unable to edit at certain points. if you can tell me why, I would be happy for an explanation.-- MEGRIMLOCK 18:24, 27 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I didn't remove the option to block the recent IPs of the blocked user, my bad. I think it must be solved already. If there is any problem, please tell me. --LorenzoCB (talk) 11:11, 28 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

First Age of the Children of Ilúvatar = First Age

Hello, Lorenzo. What do you think about the topic?

In my recent discussion with Akhorahil he pointed out that even if the term "First Age of the Children of Iluvatar" is supposed to mean the same as the term "First Age", there is no clear definition of the beginning of the term "First Age" alone. Fortunately, I did find the clear definition in The Nature of Middle-earth. -- Ar-Zigûr (talk) 09:55, 12 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi. Okay, I understand. You can see First Age#Terminology where I made a reference to The Nature of Middle-earth with an exact page number and quotation. -- Ar-Zigûr (talk) 11:52, 12 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Midway

Hello! Is it allowed to use Midway AI images created by You, Hyarion, and IvarTheBoneless in Kontuwiki? And if so, with what kind of licence? Yours, Tik / Kontuwiki Tik 05:30, 6 September 2023 (UTC)

Great question Tik! AI art currently cannot be copyrighted[1] at least in the US, but it's an ongoing discussion and is subject to change. We can continue to use the template {{copyright-ai|Midway|[[User:Username|Username]]}} and in the future we can add more clarifying text regarding the lack of copyright on the images. You might have noticed I've prefixed the file names with the name of the AI engine and not the user uploading the file. This is not rule, but it's an effort to not give the impression that I should be given much credit for the creation of an AI image. --Hyarion (talk) 14:01, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, no particular image in my mind but in general the same reason you use AI – no other pictures available Tik Tik 17:19, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
I'd say go for it then. I'm interested to see the result. --Hyarion (talk) 22:05, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, thank you! And here is the first image in Kontuwiki. I hope it's fine like this. Tik
And this is what it looks like in an article (Tata) Tik
It looks great. Check out Category:Images by AI if you're interested in more - as far as I'm concerned, any images prompted by me are yours to do as you please: however, keep in mind that those images were generated by Hyarion, so you should ask his permission first, as well as Lorenzo's, since he too prompted, modified and altered many of the AI prompts. - IvarTheBoneless (talk) 11:17, 7 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, recently the US court accorded AI image cannot have copyrights, so anyone is (legally) free to appropiate our AI images. But it is kind to ask for permission and provide the source of the images. I give my total consent to have my modified images used by anyone. LorenzoCB (talk) 11:54, 7 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Seconded. Hyarion (talk) 14:42, 7 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks again!

Reply to Discussion on "The Council of Elrond"

Apologies for posting here; I've been trying to post on the relevant discussion page, but I keep getting server error HTTP 403 every time I try to post. I hope it goes through here, and maybe you can copy my text there.

I absolutely agree with the length problem on this particular summary. The only problem is that this is not meant to be a synopsis (the blurb at the top of the article is that; just a single paragraph long), but a recapitulation.

It is not necessarily preferable to read the chapter itself; a recapitulation distills the information to the point where you can browse through points rather quickly, locating a specific piece of information you've been looking for within the narrative without having to decipher the narrative yourself. If this summary fails to do so, that would be a problem with my writing (not with the current size of the recap), and you would be very welcome to step in and fix that without any discussion.

Sorry, but you are basically imposing your own view into the wiki. As an encyclopedic project, we must keep consistency on articles. Chapter Sysnopsis (which is how the sections should asctually be called, not "Summary") should not have different approachs. Could I have your help with something?

Hi, you seem to be the one of the people most active running this day to day so I hope you don't mind me asking for your help. I was adding in references for the War of the Ring page and one of them I couldn't get right no matter how hard I tried. I keep getting the message: Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag. I interpreted it just forgetting that last part of the reference but I checked and I'm not so I'm not entirely sure what I did wrong. Thanks so much! Aragorn II (talk) 05:32, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You did great! Hyarion (talk) 06:59, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
