Various horses have been used in The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy.
- Big Dan[1]
- Bits: Royal Guard horse.[2]
- Blanco: A white Andalusian, the substitute Shadowfax.[3]
- Bob: Black Rider horse[4]
- Boy[1]
- Brownie: The original Brego.[5]
- Chico: Black Rider horse[4] and also Garulf.[2]
- Clyde[6]
- Clydee:The horse that pulls Gandalf's cart.[2]
- Domero: A white Andalusian, the main Shadowfax.[3]
- Dublin: Éowyn's horse.[3]
- Everon[1]
- Florian: A white Andalusian, the main Asfaloth horse. Bought by Viggo Mortensen after filming, given to Jane Abbott.[3]
- Frodo Baggins: Black Rider horse.[7]
- Hercules: Snowmane.[3]
- Herman: A Rohan horse, owned and ridden by Zoe Miller.[3]
- Hero: Asfaloth double, used for high-speed scenes[4]
- Jimmy Dash[1]
- Kenny: Gandalf's horse at Isengard, also used as Hasufel and a Royal Guard horse. Bought by Viggo Mortensen after filming.[2]

- Oden: The horse of Isildur[4]
- Odie: Asfaloth double, not ridden[4]

- Rastus: One of the Bills.[8]
- Shane: One of the Bills.[9]
- Sib: A Rohan and Gondor horse, ridden by Jed Brophy. Brophy bought the horse after filming.[3]
- Uraeus: A Dutch warmblood[10], main Brego. Bought by Viggo Mortensen after filming.[3]
- Zee: Black Rider horse. Used in the scene at Bucklebury Ferry.[4]
