The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is an upcoming anime fantasy film based on the novel The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. Produced by New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Animation with animation by Sola Entertainment, the film is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings film trilogy set 250 years before the events of those films. It is directed by Kenji Kamiyama from a screenplay by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews. The film tells the story of Helm Hammerhand, a legendary King of Rohan.Development of the film was being fast-tracked by June 2021, when the film and its creative team were officially announced. Animation and casting was underway at that point.The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures in theatres.
