Sauron did not assist to their making nor ever did he touch them and his taint was not direct on them.[3]

It says this is in Letter 131, but the only thing I see concerning this is: 'The Elves of Eregion made Three supremely beautiful and powerful rings, almost solely of their own imagination, and directed to the preservation of beauty: they did not confer invisibility.' It does state they were unsullied, and the Sil states he never touched them, but where is it said that he didn't assist with their making? Thanks. --Shimel 03:05, 4 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

In The Silmarillion, "Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age" (p. 299) - "Therefore the Three remained unsullied, for they were forged by Celebrimbor alone, and the hand of Sauron had never touched them; yet they also were subject to the One." Protospace 22:28, 4 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
