Talk:Nessamelda
From Tolkien Gateway
'S' or 'SS'
In Unfinished Tales appears the name Nesamelda. In Tolkien Gateway articles it is written Nessamelda. Which is the correct form?
- Nessamelda. That's what it appears as in my copy of UT, and that's etymologically more likely (refers to Nessa). -- Ederchil 06:45, 28 June 2008 (EDT)
- Then it must be a typo in my UT copy... :( ~~ Þelma 06:49, 28 June 2008 (EDT)
- That's probably worth noting then, we can redirect to the correct title and include a mention of the typo, which edition of UT is it in? --Hyarion 14:16, 28 June 2008 (EDT)
- It is a 2005 translation after the 1980 edition. So it could either be in the 1980 edition, or it could just be the translator's fault. If you'd like it to be mentioned, I believe someone should check the English 1980 edition, which is unavailable to me at the moment (ironically, UT is the only translated Tolkien book I posses). If in the 1980 edition is spelled correct and it's only a typo in the translated version, then I don't think it holds too much importance. :) ~~ Þelma 14:47, 28 June 2008 (EDT)
- The language is Romanian, the translator is Irina Horea. And yup, I'm writing the article on her. Tomorrow morning. :) As for the "ot redirecting" I declare myself confused aka I don't know how to do that. :) ~~ Þelma 15:37, 28 June 2008 (EDT)
- "Ot" is a typo. As for redirecting, you do it like this: #redirect[[Nessamelda]]. Though it has no priority at the moment. -- Ederchil 16:40, 28 June 2008 (EDT)
