Meleth was the nurse of Eärendel, son of Idril and Tuor, during the first years of his life in Gondolin. She told Eärendel tales about Melko, which made him cry when the lights of the enemy appeared in his chamber during the Fall of Gondolin.[1] It is unknown if she survived with the exiles.
Etymology
meleth is Gnomish for "love".[2]
