The lopoldi were an animal species in Númenor. Their description is not known, but they appear to have been rabbits, which where unknown in Middle-earth till later years. Lopoldi were herbivores and multiply easily, so they were very numerous. Foxes feed mainly with lopoldi, helping the Númenóreans to keep them in order. Númenóreans did not see lopoldi as food, so they leaved them to the foxes, which they respected.[1]
