Greenfields or Green Fields was a district between the Norbourn and Brandywine rivers[1] in the Northfarthing of the Shire.

In the year S.R. 1147 there was fought the Battle of Greenfields between invading orcs from the Mount Gram and the Hobbitry-in-arms. The Hobbits claimed the victory after their leader Bandobras Took (nicknamed Bullroarer) stroke off the head of the goblin king Golfimbul.[2] This was the only battle fought inside the boundaries of the Shire before the War of the Ring and the Battle of Bywater.[3]

Portrayal in adaptations

2007: The Lord of the Rings Online:

The Greenfields are a large open plain in the north-western corner of the Shire region.
