History

Edwin was a wealthy man, and had a great passion for the sea. He spent a great deal of time sailing about Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Iceland and sometimes even going as far south as to the Azores. In 1947 he set sail in his ship the Éarendel with only three sailors accompanying him, and was never seen again.[1]

Later, his son Arundel found a manuscript written in Tengwar which contained an account of the Downfall of Númenor in Old English written by Edwin.[1][2]
