Eärnil I (Q: contracted form of Eärendil, pron. [eˈarnil]; Third Age 736 – 936, aged 200 years) was the thirteenth King of Gondor and the second Ship-king.

History

In Third Age T.A. 913 he succeeded his uncle Tarannon Falastur who died childless. He was the son of Tarannon's brother Tarciryan. He continued with the expansionist maritime policy of his predecessor and captured the Haven of Umbar in T.A. 933. He was tragically lost at sea in 936 near Umbar and was succeeded by his son Ciryandil.
