The Carrock was a stony eyot in the upper reaches of the River Anduin, to the north of the Old Ford.
History
The Carrock had spiraling steps which begun from a small cavement at the bottom and led to its top. The stairs were built by Beorn who sometimes would be seen climbing to the top in the form of a bear and look at the Moon or the Misty Mountains.
In T.A. 2941, Thorin and Company were placed there by the Eagles. They bathed and rested at the cave.
Radagast the Brown's home, Rhosgobel, was near the Carrock.
Etymology
Like Chetwood, the name Carrock appears to be a compound of two words of the same meaning: Old English carr, Welsh carreg "rock, stone" + English rock.[1]
